"FATE". Stained glass, copper foil method. I feel like I need a disclaimer on this one. My first attempt at something big right after I learned the stained glass craft. This one is 2' x 4', contains 192 pieces. It was still before I knew what I was doing. Probably about 2 months after my stained glass classes were over.

I had this idea, sketched something out and what you see is the final result. I wanted it to look like something a character in a H.P. Lovecraft novel would uncover after they stumbled upon a 60,000 year old cathedral in Antarctica. Stole the wings of Isis, added the tentacles to give a nod to Cthulhu. When I added the runes at the top I wanted to spell out FATE, but I think I got the rune alphabet characters wrong. No going back now! Since I had runes I wanted to add elements so I came up with the Water\ice and Fire planets.

Honestly I cringe sometimes when I look at this one. I really didnt have a firm grasp of what I was doing. I still dont all the way but I'm learning as I go :). I didnt even have a framing square yet. Its not even a properly proportioned rectangle! Plus it has no frame, I just applied a bunch of solder to the edges. Oh well, it gives a little insight into my growth. And I kinda like that it forms a quasi triptych in relation to my 2 other Cthulhu themed pieces Enjoy!

Completed sometime at the end of summer 2005.

It's still cool; I like the idea, very neat, and I also like how each individual aspect means something.

It's always cool to show where you were in your beginning stage compared to where you are now, because that makes it more exciting to think about where you'll be in the future.
